What if the world embodied our highest potential? What would it
look like? As the structures of modern society crumble, is it
enough to respond with the same tired solutions? Or are we being
called to question a set of unexamined assumptions that form the
very basis of our civilization?
This 25-minute retrospective asks us to reflect on the state of
the world and ourselves, and to listen more closely to what is
being asked of us at this time of unprecedented global
transformation.
"We need first to understand that the human form - including
human desire and all its external representations - may be changing
radically, and thus must be re-visioned. We need to understand that
five hundred years of humanism may be coming to an end, as humanism
transforms itself into something that we must helplessly call
post-humanism."

Michael Benamou/Charles Caramello (Ed.), Performance in postmodern
culture, Madison 1977)
The New Z-Land Projects goal is to take a practical first stage
approach towards creating a Resource Based Economy developed and
based on the concepts of Jacque Fresco’s “The Venus Project”. The
aim of the initial transition period is to build a sustainable
community in Northland, New Zealand. This will act as a prototype
example for future developments. The project allows a haven for
likeminded individuals to reside and develop new technologies that
will be implemented over time. This will lead eventually to further
developments of towns and cities across the world. Thus creating a
green friendly society and making it a reality for all human
beings.
Kymatica
Kymatica (from the Greek "ta
kymatica" meaning "matters pertaining to waves" ) will
venture into the realm of Cymatics and discuss
matters of spirituality, altered states of mind, the ego, and
personal responsibility.
The movie focuses on human and universal consciousness and
points out psyche disease that mankind has induced by creating
insane illusion, which is the main cause of pain and suffer. Goes
deeper into metaphysical aspects and connects ancient hidden myths
and history with modern ways of society and political outcome.
Explains shamanism, duality, and reality behind DNAs and modern
false beliefs.
Barry
Schwartz: The real crisis? We stopped being wise
Barry Schwartz makes a passionate call for "practical wisdom" as
an antidote to a society gone mad with bureaucracy. He argues
powerfully that rules often fail us, incentives often backfire, and
practical, everyday wisdom will help rebuild our world.
Karen
Armstrong on compassion
"My work has continually brought me back to the notion of
compassion. Whichever religious tradition I study, I find at the
heart of it is the idea of feeling with the other, experiencing
with the other, compassion. And every single one of the major world
religions has developed its own version of the Golden Rule. Don’t
do to others what you would not like them to do to you.
We’ve got to do better than this. Compassion doesn’t mean
feeling sorry for people. It doesn’t mean pity. It means putting
yourself in the position of the other, learning about the other.
Learning what’s motivating the other, learning about their
grievances."
Karen Armstrong
Waking
Life
Existentialist philosophy permeates throughout the film. If it's
the belief that "people have absolute freedom of choice and that
the universe is absurd, with an emphasis on the phenomena of
alienation and anxiety", Wiggins embodies it and shows that it's a
hopeful philosophy. As he visits over 20 people, some who see him,
some who don't, all offer him a bone to chew on their way of
thinking. Particularly refreshing about the film is that so many
different ideas are offered without shoving anything down the
throat or sounding overly pretentious. WAKING LIFE is a superb
work that should be applauded.
Making
change with a slide show
Bill Strickland tells a quiet and astonishing tale of redemption
through arts, music, and unlikely partnerships. Bill Strickland's
journey from at-risk youth to 1996 MacArthur "Genius" grant
recipient would be remarkable in itself, if it were not
overshadowed by the staggering breadth of his vision. While
moonlighting as an airline pilot, Strickland founded Manchester
Bidwell, a world-class institute in his native Pittsburgh devoted
to vocational instruction in partnership with big business -- and,
almost incidentally, home to a Grammy-winning record label and a
world-class jazz performance series. Yet its emphasis on the arts
is no accident, as it embodies Strickland's conviction that an
atmosphere of high culture and respect will energize even the most
troubled students.
Media and
Politics in the United States Today
When most of us rely heavily on mainstream media for being
informed, it begs the question, "How well informed is the media?
Does it reflect bias? Does corporate ownership effect the
legitimacy of the content? Does modern media breed passive
conformity? How does media consciously and unconsciously effect the
choices we make, as a voter, as a consumer and as a human being?"
Robert McChesney explores the changing relationship between media
and politics and the effects of the growing globalization of mass
media.
